An Introduction to Meditation from the Perspective of Shamanism

In a sentence: Learn how to practice the fundamentals of the most ancient meditation tradition on the planet in a clear, practical and concise manner, and understand its relevance and value to you and the challenges that you face in your life.

Overview

This is a practical hands on workshop for those who wish to gain experience of Shamanic meditation techniques, and integrate them into their daily life. Meditations and topics covered include:

  • How to travel in your subtle energy body, and how keep your subtle body healthy and energized
  • How to perform the under-world journey, or journeying into the earth
  • How to perform the over-world journey, or journeying into the heavens
  • Connecting to authentic and reliable spirit guides in their guardian, human, animal, nature spirit, ancestral and other aspects
  • The art of soul retrieval and soul healing
  • An understanding of Shamanic cosmology and world view
  • How to bring together and integrate the ancient and very different worldview and perspective of shamanism with our modern and post-modern worldviews.

  • A workbook with extensive notes and articles covering the meditations and practices in the workbook

How to transform your stress through mindfulness

Hi there,

Throughout my years of practicing and teaching mindfulness I’ve always emphasized stress transformation rather than stress management. My reason for this is simple, in all the environments where I was living during my training, there was always a lot of unavoidable stress around!
You might imagine me during my time as a Buddhist monk back in the 1990’s as enjoying a period of peace and Zen. But in the communities that I lived in in those days there were always multiple challenges, one after another. We lived in large, ramshackle country houses in England, where the roof was springing leaks every other week. The kitchen was always understaffed, the centre car broke down (again) and money had to be found each month to pay the mortgage from very limited resources. Living in community one on top of the other meant a lot of relationship friction. My training always happened in circumstances of semi-chaos, so I had to learn to work with it, and make it a part of the curriculum!
This is why in my ‘Harnessing the Power of Stress’ Programs for companies and businesses, I teach you how to not just cope with the stress and tension that you and your team are experiencing, but thrive off of it. Stress is either making you stronger and more resilient (eustress), or it is impairing your performance and making you weaker. Finding Freedom From What Holds You Back in Life: Practical meditations & techniques for working with your shadow-self

Date & time: Saturday 28th April, 9.30am -1pm

Overview: Our shadow is the hidden part of self that has been repressed & lies hidden but active within our subconscious mind. It has elements in it that are both ‘negative’ & ‘positive’.

In its lower expression, our shadow secretly steals our energy, sabotaging our ability to manifest success, happiness, stability & peace in our mind & life.

Our shadow also contains a ‘bright’ dimension, which is that part of our repressed unconscious that contains our greatest strengths and potential. Working with our bright shadow helps us to awaken this hidden potential, bringing it out into our conscious awareness so that we can develop & use it fully.

This half-day workshop session is an introduction to what the shadow is, as well as how you can begin working with it in meditation & in your daily life in a practical way.

The RESULTS that you can expect to gain from engaging in this workshop are:

  • The ability to self-heal parts of your psyche that are in pain and in need care and attention
  • A greater feeling of overall wholeness and wellbeing
  • More physical, mental and spiritual energy in your daily life
  • Much deeper self-understandingreduced fear and greater emotional freedom
  • Greater harmony and success in your relationships with other people (because you no longer project your shadow onto them)
  • The inner confidence to manifest that which you want in your life free from self-sabotaging unconscious patterns!

Workshop Structure:

Each of the three hours of the workshop will contain a 15minute meditation, plus a talk and explanation of the concepts and methods involved.

Hour 1 – The shadow-self, what it is, how to spot it within you and how to start positively working with it in meditation and in daily life.

Hour 2 – The dark side of the shadow; Practical methods for contacting, releasing and re-directing the negative energy of your shadow -self

Hour 3 – The bright side of your shadow; Practical methods for seeing, contacting and releasing your hidden potential and abilities that have been pushed into your unconscious. Time for Q&A.

In addition the workshop itself you will also receive:

  • Full MP3 recordings of the workshop meditations and talks
  • Three short (10-15mins) guided shadow meditation recordings for you to use in order to help you integrate shadow work into your own daily practice.
  • A full set of workshop notes detailing the meditations and concepts covered.
