With so many different types of meditation practice available to us, it can feel overwhelming.

  • How do I know which one is the ‘right’ one for me?
  • What are the differences between all these types of meditation?
  • What are the things that all these meditation practices have in common?
  • Are some practices better than others?
  • Should I focus on just one, or do combinations?

In this talk and interactive session, Toby will help you ‘cut through the noise’ by giving you a clear overview of five different types, or categories of meditation. All the different meditation traditions fit into one or another of these types or categories:

  • Type one, the Shaman 
  • Type two, the Yogi
  • Type three, the Siddha 
  • Type four, the Saint
  • Type five, the Non-Dual meditator, or Sage

By identifying and understanding them you will be able to

  • Understand the overall landscape or ‘map’ of your consciousness and how to navigate it effectively
  • Select the type/types of meditation practice that may work best for your purposes/aims
  • Put together complementary combinations of different meditations without feeling lost or confused
  • Build your own practice with confidence
  • Go to any mediation talk/retreat/centre and have a sense of where it fits into the bigger picture

The sessions are Free of charge.

The Wednesday session at Balanced Living will be primarily an overview talk with a short meditation.

The Saturday session at One Heart will be a longer guided meditation journey through the five different types of meditation & how they link together.

About the teacher:  Toby is a meditation teacher, the founder of Integral Meditation Asia. He has been practicing and teaching meditation for over thirty years, practising Qi gong since the early 1990’s. He spent five years as a Buddhist monk within the Tibetan tradition. In his teaching and coaching he combines practical meditation techniques from the world’s great wisdom traditions with the cutting edge practices that are currently emerging from both the integral and evolutionary consciousness movements.
